A 100% natural, soy-free formula

Pausanorm Forte is Salugea’s 100% natural, next-generation, soy-free supplement, specifically designed to address every aspect of menopause.

The strength of Pausanorm Forte lies in the powerful synergy of its plant extracts: Red Clover, Kudzu, Dioscorea villosa, Angelica Sinensis and Vervain. All are used exclusively in the form of highly titrated dry extracts. Titrated dry extract is the best method of processing plants, as it guarantees a consistent and reliable concentration of each active ingredient, ensuring a targeted action.

Pausanorm Forte provides both phytoestrogenic extracts (Red Clover and Kudzu[1]) and phytoprogestogenic extracts (Dioscorea villosa), for a complete hormonal balance. Its highly innovative formulation also includes plant extracts that support emotional balance and promote relaxation (Angelica Sinensis and Vervain).

Who is Pausanorm Forte functional mix of ingredients intended for?

Pausanorm Forte is the supplement used by women in menopause or perimenopause who want to:

  • Counteract all the discomforts of menopause in a natural and safe way,
  • support hormonal balance, both oestrogenic and progestogenic,
  • enjoy a good night’s rest,
  • choose a soy-free product – soy is a plant with active ingredients that are poorly absorbed, and it is often genetically modified[2]-[3],
  • support good mood.

What you obtain from the ingredients of Pausanorm Forte, the food supplement for Menopause

  • Relief from all the discomforts linked to menopause (including more intimate ones such as vaginal dryness[4]).
  • Supply of phytoestrogens and phytoprogestogens.
  • Relaxation and emotional relief.
  • Strong and radiant skin, hair and nails[5].
  • Heart and circulation protection[6].

Why choose Pausanorm Forte, food supplement for Menopause?

  • It is 100% natural.
  • Its active ingredients support hormonal balance.
  • It is soy-free.
  • It comes in easy-to-open vegetable capsules – ideal for those with difficulty swallowing.
  • It is suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
  • Packaged in brown pharmaceutical-grade glass bottles to ensure quality and safety right down to the last capsule.
  • It is gluten- and lactose-free.

How the synergy of ingredients in Pausanorm Forte works.

The strength of Pausanorm Forte comes from its completely natural formulation, with each ingredient carefully chosen to target and relieve every common discomfort of menopause.

Red Clover for its oestrogen-like activity

Red clover is one of the best-known plants for relieving menopause symptoms. Its popularity during menopause comes from its oestrogen-like activity. Red clover contains four different types of isoflavones – compounds that act like oestrogens, mimicking their function. This is why they can help alleviate hot flushes, mood swings, and insomnia during menopause [7]-[8].

Kudzu - providing six different, easily absorbed phytoestrogens

Kudzu is a plant that is little known in the West, but it has been used for millennia in Eastern medicine for its properties supporting the physiological functions of the joints[9] and of the cardiovascular system[10], as well as the intestinal transit[11].

And that’s not all! Kudzu is particularly interesting for menopause thanks to its six different types of phytoestrogens, especially the isoflavone puerarin, which is easily absorbed and highly bioavailable[12].

The phytoestrogens in Kudzu help reduce hot flushes, relieve palpitations and anxiety, support cardiovascular well-being, and promote bone turnover[13].

La Dioscorea Villosa for hormonal balance

Dioscorea Villosa is another great ally for all women in menopause. It helps relieve menopause discomfort, but in a slightly different way compared to its “next-of-kin” Red Clover and Kudzu. The real star is its active compound, diosgenin. This substance helps harmonise the hormonal fluctuations that occur every month in every woman and become increasingly pronounced during menopause[14] .

Additionally, Dioscorea villosa provides phytoprogestogens, compounds that mimic the functions of progesterone[15]. Taking supplements based on plant extracts that help support female hormonal balance (oestrogens and progesterone) is the key to experiencing this delicate stage of life with complete peace of mind.

Angelica sinensis to protect heart and blood circulation

This plant is also part of the Pausanorm Forte formulation for its ability to relieve menopause symptoms. In particular, Angelica sinensis has phytoestrogenic activity[16], supports heart and circulation[17], and has a relaxing effect[18].

Vervein to promote relaxation and mental well-being

Last but not least, Vervein. This plant is useful in menopause not only for relieving symptoms but also for promoting relaxation and sleep[19]. Supporting emotional well-being during menopause is essential to ensure a woman’s overall wellness.

Pausanorm Forte: How to take

If you are going through perimenopause

If you are in perimenopause (no periods for at least 3 or 4 months, or if your cycle is occasionally missed), take 1 capsule per day, at least one hour away from meals (mid-morning, mid-afternoon, or at bedtime if the discomfort is mainly at night).

If the discomfort is quite marked and does not ease after 10–12 days of use, increase to 2 capsules per day.

Mid-morning, at least one hour away from meals: 1 capsule of Pausanorm Forte

Mid-afternoon, at least one hour away from meals: 1 capsule of Pausanorm Forte

If and when your period returns, pause the intake and resume once it has ended.

Carry on with the treatment for at least three months or until the discomfort has subsided. From that point, you can try reducing to 1 capsule per day as a maintenance routine.

If, during the maintenance phase, the discomfort tends to return, it means that your optimal daily intake is 2 capsules.

If you are going through menopause

If you’re going through the menopause (no periods for at least 12 months), take two capsules a day.

Mid-morning, at least one hour away from meals: 1 capsule of Pausanorm Forte

Mid-afternoon, at least one hour away from meals: 1 capsule of Pausanorm Forte

If the discomfort bothers you mostly at night, you can take the second capsule in the evening, just before going to bed.

Keep taking the capsules for at least three months, or until the troubles have eased. After that, you can try reducing to just one capsule a day as maintenance.

If the discomfort comes back while you’re on the lower dose, it means that for you the best daily amount is two capsules.

If your periods return (this can sometimes happen during menopause because of the ingredients), stop taking the capsules and start again once the bleeding has finished.

Because Pausanorm Forte contains natural phyto-oestrogens and phyto-progestogens, it helps restore the hormonal balance that is usually lost in menopause. That’s why, even after the discomfort eases, it is a good idea to keep taking it.

If you stop completely, the menopausal discomfort is likely to come back.

  • If you are taking any prescribed medication, always check with your GP or trusted doctor as a safety precaution.
  • If you have thyroid issues and are taking thyroid hormones, there’s no interference, but the benefits of the product may take a little longer to show. Don’t take your medicine and the supplement at the same time – leave at least an hour between them.
  • Pausanorm Forte should not be used if you are on hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in any form, if you are taking any female sex hormones (for example, the pill, a hormone-releasing coil, or vaginal gel), or if you have a personal history of hormone-sensitive cancers.

Scientific Insights

Menopause is a natural stage in a woman’s life, during which significant changes occur both physically and emotionally[21].

Starting from perimenopause, the production of the hormones that regulate the reproductive system in fertile women – oestrogen and progesterone – gradually declines.

As a result, the menstrual cycle becomes irregular (periods may be skipped for a few months or come closer together) until they stop completely.

This gradual drop in oestrogen is the main reason for the common and often troublesome changes women experience during menopause[22].

To compensate for this gradual decline, people often turn to food supplements containing isoflavones, a group of natural compounds that can “mimic” the activity of oestrogen.

From Soy to Red Clover and Kudzu – more effective and easier for the body to absorb

First-generation menopause supplements offered isoflavones from Soy (Glycine max). However, their effect in easing menopause-related changes is quite limited[23].

Today, modern menopause supplements NO LONGER include soy, because it contains only two isoflavones (genistein and daidzein) in a glycosylated form, which prevents optimal and rapid absorption in the human body[24], making it largely ineffective.

Moreover, soy available on the market today is increasingly genetically modified.

In the natural and herbal products sector, there is growing attention to avoiding plant extracts from GM crops4.

For these reasons, second-generation menopause supplements have shifted to other plant-based active ingredients, particularly Red Clover (Trifolium pratense), which provides four isoflavones, most of which are already in an absorbable form, without the glycoside part, making them more easily assimilated and more bioavailable[25].

Red Clover is therefore better suited than soy to support women during menopause. In Pausanorm Forte, we have combined it with Kudzu (Pueraria lobata), a wild plant native to Japan.

In addition to providing six different types of isoflavones, Kudzu is particularly effective at helping to rebalance cardiovascular changes during menopause, such as blood pressure fluctuations, hypertension, and palpitations11.

The effectiveness of Kudzu extract is also due to one of its specific isoflavones, Puerarin11. Not only is it easily absorbed, but it also has very high bioavailability, excellent stability, and stays in the bloodstream longer than other types of isoflavones.

The innovation of Dioscorea villosa

Over time, isoflavones extracted from Red Clover and Kudzu have replaced those from soy. Their oestrogen-like action helps make up for the sudden drop in oestrogen levels in women during menopause.

But, as mentioned earlier, progesterone levels – another important hormone - also decline during this stage. How can it be supplemented?

By also including an extract of Dioscorea villosa, which provides a specific active compound (Diosgenin) with a natural “progestogenic” action, helping to support hormonal balance13.

Let’s now take a look at some detailed studies conducted on these active ingredients.

Experimental Phytotherapy

The Pausanorm Forte formulation contains Red Clover, Kudzu, Dioscorea villosa, Angelica sinensis, and Vervein.

Red Clover

  • J Obstet Gynaecol. 2016;36(3):301-11. doi: 10.3109/01443615.2015.1049249. Epub 2015 Oct 15. Red clover for treatment of hot flashes and menopausal symptoms: A systematic review and meta-analysis. Ghazanfarpour M, Sadeghi R, Roudsari RL, Khorsand I, Khadivzadeh T, Muoio B

This study evaluated the effectiveness of Red Clover in relieving hot flushes and other menopause-related changes in peri- and postmenopausal women. The average frequency of hot flushes in the Red Clover groups was lower than in the control groups. In addition, both subjective symptoms, such as vaginal dryness, and objective signs, such as vaginal atrophy, showed significant improvement with a daily dose of 80 mg of Red Clover.

Kudzu

  • Puerarin: a review of pharmacological effects. Zhou YX, Zhang H, Peng C. Phytother Res. 2014 Jul;28(7):961-75. doi: 10.1002/ptr.5083. Epub 2013 Dec 13. Review.

This study examined the beneficial effects of Puerarin on various physiological functions. These effects may be due to its wide range of properties, including vasodilation, heart protection, neuroprotection, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory action, pain relief, support for bone formation, inhibition of alcohol absorption, and reduction of insulin resistance.

  • Br J Nutr. 2003 Jun;89 Suppl 1:S45-58. doi: 10.1079/BJN2002796. Bioavailability of phyto-oestrogens. Ian Rowland 1, Marian Faughnan, Leane Hoey, Kristiina Wähälä, Gary Williamson, Aedin Cassidy

This study focused on how well isoflavones are absorbed depending on the type used. Kudzu is among the most easily absorbed, which sets it apart from soy, the bioavailability odìf which is less reliable.

Dioscorea Villosa

  • Am J Chin Med. 2009;37(1):159-67.doi: 10.1142/S0192415X09006746. Estrogen activities and the cellular effects of natural progesterone from wild yam extract in mcf-7 human breast cancer cells. Mi-Kyung Par, Hyeok-Yi Kwon, Woong-Shick Ahn, Sumi Bae, Mee-Ra Rhyu, Youngjoo Lee

According to this study, Dioscorea works by increasing the activity of progesterone receptors in cells that respond to this hormone, stimulating a physiological response even when progesterone levels are low. This makes it useful during menopause to help support hormonal balance.

Angelica Sinensis

  • Estrogenic activity of standardized extract of Angelica sinensis. Circosta C, Pasquale RD, Palumbo DR, Samperi S, Occhiuto F. Phytother Res. 2006 Aug;20(8):665-9.

This study evaluated and confirmed the oestrogenic activity of a standardized extract from Angelica sinensis roots, used to help relieve menopause-related changes.

Vervein

  • Novel neuroprotective effects of the aqueous extracts from Verbena officinalis Linn. Lai SW, Yu MS, Yuen WH, Chang RC. Neuropharmacology. 2006 May;50(6):641-50. Epub 2006 Jan 6.

In this study, researchers demonstrated the neuroprotective effects of Verbena officinalis, showing that these benefits are not just based on traditional beliefs, but can be confirmed using scientific methods.

Domande Frequenti sull'integratore

Yes, Pausanorm Forte can be used even in perimenopause. Start with one capsule a day (taken away from meals) and, if needed, increase to two capsules if discomfort persists after ten days. If your period returns, stop taking Pausanorm Forte while you’re bleeding and resume once it has finished.

To get the most benefit, we recommend taking the two capsules at different times of the day: one mid-morning and one mid-afternoon, away from meals.

After the first three-month cycle, you can move to the maintenance phase with one capsule a day, or continue taking two capsules if the discomfort is still strong. In either case, we recommend discussing it with your gynaecologist or contacting us on our freephone 800 688 801 to get personalised advice from our experts.
